Denton Air Conditioner Installation

Denton, TX is located on the northern edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Denton is home to the University of North Texas and the Texas Woman’s University. Denton has won an Outstanding Achievement Award from the U.S. Conference of Mayors as one of the most livable cities in America with a population of 100,000 or more. Denton’s population grew rapidly in size in the 1960’s, with a lot of homes being built then.

Overview

Lex Air was asked by an older Denton couple to come out for an inspection of their 20 year-old air conditioner, because it had stopped working. After the initial inspection, we found the reason for the malfunction was due to a blown compressor.

Problem

A compressor is perhaps the most important component to an outdoor A/C condenser. The issue with this compressor was simply from being overworked for many years, it was only a matter of time before the component failed. Because of the age of the home, the ductwork was also outdated and insufficient for a high-efficiency system.

Additionally, the homeowners were pet lovers with multiple family dogs. Because of the pet hair and dander throughout the home, indoor air quality and allergies were an issue.

Solution

To prevent an expensive repair of a compressor and future repairs to an old system, we suggested an A/C replacement. A new Trane XL 18i two stage cool/heat system with variable speed blower in the furnace was also installed.

The Trane XL 18i has an efficiency of 18 SEER, but only when the home is properly sealed and ductwork isn’t leaking. To obtain the maximum SEER out of their unit, all of the duct work was replaced and blown-in insulation was added to the attic. The home was decades old and never built to deal with high electricity costs.

Trane Clean Effects air purifier/ionizer filtration system was attached to the air handler to deal with the pet hair and dander. All cooled air that circulates throughout the home will now be filtered and cleaned.

Results

In the end, an old Denton residence received an upgraded high efficiency system from Trane. The added Clean Effects system will purify air and prevent illness for the couple’s health and grandchildren.
