Coppell A/C Replacement
Coppell is a small residential community east of Carrollton and I-35. The city has exhausted residential development, and is expected to stay near 40,000, despite continued growth throughout DFW. A majority of the homes in Coppell were built between 1980 – 2000 and feature central air conditioning and electric, forced air furnaces. Coppell is a primary service area of Lex Air and several of our contractors live in town. The close proximity to our headquarters in Carrollton, allows us to respond to most service calls within a few hours.
At the beginning of summer, a Coppell homeowner called needing a fast resolution to their A/C. It was blowing warm air, even when the thermostat was set to cool. It was past 8 p.m. but we quickly responded with our 24/7 emergency service. Even at that hour, temperatures were a balmy 80 degrees. This homeowner was having family over for a big BBQ on Memorial Day, and was desperately needing their A/C repaired or a new system.
After an initial inspection, our team of certified technicians assessed that a compressor had blown and would be a costly repair. It was a setback for the homeowner, yet they disclosed the cost of their monthly cooling costs, and we determined a new system would save them money that summer!
The homeowner further revealed their master bedroom was always hot in the summer, even when their old A/C was working. We discovered a lack of return air vents and modified the ductwork to ensure adequate cooling throughout the home.
We compared all brands we offer including Goodman, Amana and Trane. However, the homeowner decided on a new Trane XR16 based on their limited budget and small home size.
Once the ductwork was complete, we were ready to install the air condenser and air handler. At Lex Air, we often install air handlers in the attic due to limited space in older Dallas homes for equipment. With proper ductwork and venting, an air handler will power the forced air central cooling and heating system for decades.
This Coppell resident was extremely satisfied, we hit their timeline before Memorial Day and they were able to experience a cooler summer. Their new Trane XR16 system was at 17 SEER and made a big improvement to their monthly utility bills.
